Officers have arrested a Ritchie county man based on DNA evidence and charged him with Third Degree Sexual Assault. A complaint was made against the suspect Roland Wayne Mclaughlin in 2021, June 14 about the possibility of the commission of the crime of sexual abuse or sexual assault. In the report, the victim in question who is 14 years was alleged to have been having sexual relationship with the suspect who is 35 years old. It was also said that the victim was possibly already carrying a child.
When the young lady was interviewed by personnel from the child protective service, she said she was in love with the suspect and that he meant a lot to her that she didn’t want him faraway. Personnel with the Child Protective Services already commenced and completed all necessary documentation to ensure that they take the lady into custody. When she was taken to the hospital for examination, the examination kit was processed by the Forensic Department of the West Virginia State Police. The result of the examination was returned on the 16th of November and the results indicated the presence of a Male DNA in each of the swabs tested.
A warrant was issued and the suspect arrested, his DNA was a match with that found on the swab, he has been charged with Third Degree Sexual Assault and isbeing remanded in North Central Regional Jail, his bail bond is $25,000.
